Speaker's Profile

Garry Simmons is the managing director and practice leader for Milliman’s Health & Group Benefits Practice and is based outside of Charleston, SC. He manages the delivery of Milliman's benefits related consulting and actuarial services available throughout the  practice, as well as ensures that our consultants are always well  informed of, or driving, industry trends. He also leads the growth  and business development team. Garry is ultimately responsible for brand awareness as well as profitable growth in this employer/ plan sponsor space for Milliman.

Garry brings over 40 years of industry experience in the employee benefits field, including leadership roles on both the insurance  carrier and consulting side. Prior to joining Milliman, he was a member of the regional leadership team for Aon’s Health Solutions practice. His past experience includes strategic benefits consulting,  financial and account management, vendor selection, global  benefits strategy, personal production, and regional leadership  roles working for large national consulting firms and major  employee benefits insurance companies. His clients have included  middle market, large, and very large employers representing a broad spectrum of industries.

Garry has co-authored a Milliman white paper on the emergence of  advanced primary care as a potential strategic solution in benefits  design space. He is a regularly featured speaker at benefits-related  employer conferences and events. Garry also represents Milliman  as a national consultant liaison to each of the major medical carriers, and has sat on the board of directors for both the SC Business Coalition on Health and the NC Business Group on Health.
