I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University (Aggie Pride!), a Masters of Arts in Education & Human Development with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The George Washington University and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology with a minor in integrated behavioral health from New Mexico State University (NMSU). As a practitioner-scientist -advocate, my research focus has primarily centered around culturally centered clinical practice. My research has included: race-related stress, minority mental health, cultural factors that impact mental health/general health concerns, racial-ethnic teasing, help-seeking behavior, stigma, problem behavior in adolescents and mental health in a corrections setting. As a counseling psychologist, my clinical practice is heavily influenced by social justice philosophies.

Dr. Sharon Lo

Clinical Outcomes & Quality Lead, Modern Health

Dr. Sharon Lo (she/her) is a licensed psychologist and Clinical Outcomes & Quality Lead at Modern Health. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience from Michigan State University. She completed her APA-accredited internship at Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University and the Children's Health Council Consortium and was awarded funding from the National Institutes of Health (NICHD F32HD100025; Lo, PI) for her fellowship at University of Michigan. She holds expertise in promoting well-being and positive health outcomes for children and their families, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds. She integrates her work across academic, clinical, and digital health sectors to increase the accessibility and dissemination of evidence-based mental health practices. Prior to joining Modern Health, she was an Assistant Professor at Pacific University where she directed a research program dedicated to teasing apart the what and how of emotion regulation, stress, and resilience across the lifespan.

Dr. Hannah Weisman is a licensed psychologist and operations leader for health tech startups. She focuses on scaling innovative healthcare services while ensuring quality, patient experience, provider satisfaction, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. She previously served as Director of Operations at Mindstrong Health from their series A to C, and is now at Resilience Lab where she is leading the company's expansion into new markets. Hannah received her PhD in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology from University of California Santa Barbara and her BA from Pitzer College.

Equipped with an obsessive passion for building data-driven, engaging and empathic product to increase access to high-quality behavioral health, I am an operational leader, who builds people centered teams to drive change.Former CCO at Octave (led Clinical, Product & Engineering) and Founding partner (owner/operator) of Peninsula Behavioral Health, I have built practices providing high-value service through clinician culture, ML, product innovation, and deep relationships with commercial payers. Sometimes I am an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Stanford University Medical School, where I help think through delivery of care through quality improvement, tech and user-centered design and build predictive models. I also get to teach and co-wrote a book on emotional eating.

Terence Penn

PhD Candidate | Clinical Fellow, Harvard Medical School | Massachusetts General Hospital

Dr. Terence Penn is a postdoctoral fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, MA) with an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School. His academic research broadly examined minority health disparities, with a focus on the biological, psychological, and social (i.e., biopsychosocial) mechanisms contributing to increased pain and disability among racial/ethnic minorities with chronic pain. Clinically, he provides individual and group therapy for patients with a broad range of psychiatric issues that interfere with medical recovery.

Dr. Penn is the recipient of a number of awards including the inaugural Redford Williams Health Equity Student Research Excellence Award (Society of Behavioral Medicine) and the Outstanding Graduate Student Scholastic Achievement Award (The University of Alabama at Birmingham).

Outside of work, Terence serves as a volunteer for Take This, a non-profit that aims to decrease stigma and increase support for mental health in games.
