About Me

Mary is an Executive Design Director and co-lead of the Health portfolio at IDEO.org, where she leads programs that use design to improve health outcomes, expand access, and advance more equitable systems of care. Her work spans global health, mental health, and community-centered public health, with a focus on designing with communities that have historically been underserved.Across her career, Mary has worked at the intersection of healthcare and design, bringing a human-centered lens to patient experiences, service delivery, and systems change. Prior to IDEO.org, she designed healthcare experiences and outcomes at Kaiser Permanente, where her work was recognized by Fast Company and Harvard Business Review.At IDEO.org, Mary has led some of the organization’s most impactful health and wellbeing programs. She led a transformational project with PSH and the Ethiopian government to increase access to contraceptives for rural teenage girls, and spearheaded the Women and Money program — a four-year initiative that advanced the financial inclusion of rural women across seven countries in partnership with more than 30 organizations and support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Mary holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design from Carnegie Mellon University.
