Self-Injury Recovery & Awareness (SIRA)
Moriah Milner is the Community Engagement Manager with Self-Injury Recovery and Awareness (SIRA), a peer support organization dedicated to helping individuals in recovery from Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI). Moriah first found SIRA in 2022 while navigating her own recovery from NSSI, and took on the role of Community Engagement Manager in 2024.In their role at SIRA, Moriah trains peer support group hosts on effective facilitation, moderates the organization's WhatsApp community of over 200 members to foster connection between meetings, and serves as a welcoming first point of contact for prospective members, helping them find the right fit, whether within SIRA or elsewhere. She also contributes to creative community initiatives like SIRA Show and Tell.Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Moriah is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, where they studied Chemical Engineering, and she now works as an engineer in Indianapolis, IN. Moriah is also passionate about expanding access and representation in STEM, volunteering with the Minority Engineering Programs of Indianapolis (MEPI) to introduce minority youth to careers in engineering. When they are not advocating for community or careers, you can find Moriah watching TV with their cat or spending quality time with friends.
